He has been the vice-chancellor of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, vice-chancellor and founder of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, director of the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyers Industrials de Barcelona, general director of universities and investigation and general director of Scientific Politic of Spain, vice-president of the Comissió Interdepartamental de Recerca i Innovació Tecnològica (CIRIT) of the Generalitat de Catalunya, president of the Fundació BCD-Barcelona Centre de Disseny; president of Caixa Tarragona, president of the Advisor's Board for the sustainable development of Catalonia. He is a member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans, of the Fundació Gran Enciclopèdia Catalana, of the Reial Acadèmia de Ciències i Arts de Barcelona, of the Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de Catalunya and of the Real Academia de Ingeniería de España. He has a big number of prizes and honours. He loves books and he collects histories and chronicles of Catalonia. He is married and he has three sons and three grandsons. He loves the photography and the old cinema.

From 1996 until his appointment as Executive Chairman of Repsol YPF, in October 2004, he was member of the Board of Directors of the oil company. Currently occupies, in addition to Repsol YPF executive presidency, the Vice-Presidency of the Gas Natural group.

He did several works at the Empresa Nacional Bazán. He has been general advisor-manager of Industria de Turbo Propulsores, S.A. (ITP). He occupies the presidence of Eurojet. He has been the general director of Gamesa Eólica and he has also been chairman of the Autoritat Portuària de Barcelona.
He has made a big number of works related to the investigation and technology: dean of the Col.legi d’Enginyers Navals i Oceànics d’Espanya, chairman of the Engine Sectorial Group (ESG), chairman of the Associació de Fabricants Bascos de Material Aeroespacial (HEGAN),and he has been the president of EUSKALIT, the foundation for the quality of the Basque Country.
He has been the president of the social advisor of the Universitat de Barcelona.
He has also participated in different projects related to the nautical sports, in fields related to the ships design and as a crew member of yacht race. He has made alone the Atlantic crossing and he was nominated "Better Natical sportsman", he went around the world "Whitbread" as a skipper.
He is a long-term member of the Real Academia de Ingeniería and he has got two crosses to the Naval Merit and he has also one to the Aeuronautical Merit. He has also the Gran Cruz de la Orden de Alfonso X El Sabio.

Between 1994 and 1999 she was Professor of administrative law at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and, between 1994 and 1996, she was head of the legal service of the Catalan Association of municipalities. In 1996 - 1999 - she was responsible for coordination of the Directorate General of Local administration of the Generalitat of Catalonia. As elected Councillor for convergence and Unió, she was named Deputy Mayor of equality and social policies of the City Council between 1999 and 2003, and has subsequently been Lieutenant Mayor of territory (2003-2010).

He develops an intense activity of dissemination and discussion of the current economic problems through seminars, articles and colaborations in written and audiovisual media. It has also been mayor of Olot, President of the Diputació de Girona, Member of the Parlament de Catalunya, Conseller de Medi Ambient and Territorial policy. Currently Deputy CiU spokesman in the Congress of Diputados.Ha received numerous awards and distinctions including the Ildefons Cerdà Medal and the Gold Medal of the Diputació de Girona, among others.

In the year 1985 she has work like civil servant and of the 1995 to the 1999 she did charge of the area of Inland revenue and of the Concejalía of Collblanc-The Torrassa. In the 1999 she was appointed first deputy mayor and she assumed the responsibility of the area of Economy and Inland revenue, in 2007, she has the first tinenta of mayor and manager of the area of Planning, Coordination and Economy.
